apple cinnamon bread
It’s that time of year: apple season. One of my all-time favorite times of the year. I’ve talked before about my love of apple season and even Apple Day, a day devoted entirely to devouring tasty meals made from apples. This apple bread was my first foray into apple cooking this fall and it is worthy of repeat performances. Many repeat performances.
I was frankly shocked at how quickly we devoured this loaf of apple cinnamon bread. It’s one of those quick breads that you make for breakfast and then decide to have some for dessert. After every meal.
Cinnamon is quite possibly my favorite spice and it makes this apple bread so warm and inviting. Perhaps too warm and inviting…did I menton how quickly we finished off this loaf? Meanwhile, freshly baked apples fill every mouthwatering bite and the cinnamon and sugar topping adds just a hint of crunch and even more allure. Baking a loaf of this bread fills your house with a scent so heavenly and warm that you’ll want to bake a loaf every day until spring.
In fact, I have a bunch of apples just begging to be baked into this bread, but alas, Hurricane Sandy has put our oven out of commission. We somehow lost only some of our power. Who knew that was even possible? While we still have most of our power, a handful of lights and outlets are out, including the one for our oven (and no, it’s not a tripped fuse). It really is too bad because I have desperately wanted to whip up another loaf ever since Sandy’s winds first reached Boston. It’s the perfect way to make the most of a raging storm. Or a beautiful crisp fall day. Or a snowy blizzard. Or, well, you get the idea.
